Experimental Evaluation Method of Carbonation in Concrete Structure Using Nonlinear Resonant Ultrasonic Spectroscopy
نویسندگان
چکیده
Carbonation is a typical type of concrete deterioration that can cause various physicochemical changes and adversely affects the performance reinforced structures, particularly in offshore structures. Nonlinear resonant ultrasonic spectroscopy (NRUS), which non-destructive test technique, applied this study to experimentally evaluate degree carbonation without damaging structure. Nonlinearity parameters specimens exposed accelerated conditions are measured via NRUS. The nonlinearity indicate lower values for longer durations. This because internal microcracks reduced by CaCO3, product. consistent trend experimental results shows NRUS be effectively carbonation.

Detection of Concrete Damage Using Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity Method
This paper investigates the efficiency of Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) method in detecting cracks and flaws inside the concrete. A series of concrete beams and slab specimens were cast and damaged to simulate the different mechanisms possible in a reinforced concrete deck due to mechanical loading. Two types of simulated cracks, namely, cracks perpendicular and cracks parallel to axis of bea...
متن کاملApplying nonlinear resonant ultrasound spectroscopy to improving thermal damage assessment in concrete.
Nonlinear resonant ultrasound spectroscopy (NRUS) consists of evaluating one or more resonant frequency peak shifts while increasing excitation amplitude. NRUS exhibits high sensitivity to global damage in a large group of materials. Most studies conducted to date are aimed at interrogating the mechanical damage influence on the nonlinear response, applying bending, or longitudinal modes. The s...

Because of the need of rapid detection of internal defects and embedded object in concrete structures, a ultrasonic detecting method with linear array transducers is presented here, which is the high-resolution and efficient imaging technique for concrete materials by combining with synthetic aperture focusing technique (SAFT). At first, simulation data of array detection are processed to be am...
متن کاملUltrasonic Tomography Technique for Evaluation Concrete Pavements
Ultrasonic tomography is an emerging technology that shows promise for quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) during construction, or for making rehabilitation decisions in concrete pavements. However, the benefits of this emerging technology have not yet been fully captured for widespread use in highway infrastructure management. Verification of a state-of-the-art ultrasonic tomography devi...
